Religious Education

The Church of England has published a Statement of Entitlement for RE for every child in a Church School. It states:

Religious education in a Church school should enable every child to flourish and to live life in all its fullness. (John 10:10). It will help educate for dignity and respect encouraging all to live well together

Such an approach is offered through a commitment to generous hospitality, being true to our underpinning faith, but with a deep respect for the integrity of other religious traditions (and worldviews)  and for the religious freedom of each person.

Our aim is to provide a rich RE curriculum which enables our children to meet the aims of this entitlement.

Religious Education is a statutory subject of the school curriculum and therefore religious education shall be provided for all registered pupils. Parents have the right to withdraw their child from religious education lessons.

Religious education actively promotes the values of truth, justice, respect for all and care of the environment. It places specific emphasis on:

pupils valuing themselves and others,

the role of family and the community in religious belief and activity,

the celebration of diversity in society through understanding similarities and differences,

sustainable development of the earth and care for creation

At Roxton, RE is delivered as set out in the Bedfordshire Agreed Syllabus (SACRE). To find out more, click here to see an overview of our RE curriculum.
