Attendance

Good attendance is essential to ensuring that every child makes great progress at school. We expect all our children to achieve an attendance record of at least 96%, which is the minimum expected level set by the Government.

Attendance at St James' is generally above the local and national averages, which reflects just how much our children enjoy coming to school.

Holidays should not be taken during term time, and there are clear statutory guidelines regarding absence during term time. The Head Teacher will not authorise any holiday leave during term time, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

This document shows you how much time taken away from school can affect overall attendance.
